FAITH: Repentance

April 26, 2008 0
Sin is sin. It doesn't matter if it's a little fib or literal murder - it's sin in God's eyes, and it makes us unworthy to be in His presence.

What matters is that Christ followers repent from sin. Repent means to "turn away." This doesn't mean that we get plastered on Friday night, then ask for forgiveness the next morning, and then get plastered later on that night. A repentant heart will be so uncomfortable with staying in that unrighteousness, that that heart will try to avoid repeating it at all costs.

Too often, there are sins that we say/do/think that seem small, but it's important for us to ask the Lord to point out our transgressions to us and to help us repent before they spiral out of control. Sin has a tendency to increase on itself.

Sin, no matter how small, separates us from God and places us in hell.  But we have hope!  If we repent and turn to Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we're made worthy - through Jesus - for Heaven.

The lyrics of this worship song are usually going through my head after I sin and when I'm ready to humble myself before the Lord.
